10th ANNIVERSARY- JUNE 2024
A PLACE for the ARTS was born out of a collective vision to fill a void in Bancroft's creative community following the closure of Rural Roots restaurant in the fall of 2013. Determined to create a new space for artists to gather and flourish, a dedicated group embarked on a journey to establish "a place for the arts" at 23 Bridge Street. Through unwavering determination and collaboration, the space was transformed into a dynamic location where artists could exhibit their work, exchange ideas, and engage with the community.
Over the past decade, A PLACE for the ARTS has continuously evolved, innovating in governance, membership structures, and
programming, while remaining steadfast in its commitment to supporting local talent and its community.
Today it’s a vibrant venue that provides a platform for over 40 artists to showcase their diverse talents, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, woodworking, mixed media art, stain glass designs, and much more. Thousands of art lovers and visitors come every year to see, enjoy, and buy art, making the local arts scene vibrant and supporting both talented artists and the community's economy.
“We are incredibly proud of how far we've come since our humble beginnings. This anniversary is not just a celebration of our past accomplishments but also a testament to the resilience and creativity of our community,” says the Chair of APFTA.
