A PLACE for the ARTS
presents

ResinateWithMe
by Tricia van Oostveen

By using a variety of media and styles, especially with RESIN, Tricia's paintings are a journey for her as she creates and experiments with colour and form. She creates unique colourful works of art that focus on light, movement and texture hoping to evoke emotions and feelings as we struggle with our relationship to the natural or spiritual world around us. The lighthearted approach of pouring paint onto canvas or tiles creates unique pieces that are abstract and colourful and become coasters, trivets, and paintings for the home.

Tricia hopes to offer this journey of emotions to her visitors as they visually connect to her art during her exhibition at APFTA.

OPENING RECEPTION will be on Saturday October 7th from 11am to 4pm

Who is Tricia van Oostveen...

Her path to becoming a visual artist from a career in financial planning began in 2010 when she studied at York University and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Fortunately, she has been able to show and sell her work in several galleries and festivals in Toronto, Hamilton, and the Durham region. Additionally, she has been involved in several community artist groups, with the highlight of her work being the management of an artist-run gallery in Oshawa.

Her painting work encompasses several streams of thought. She started with and continues to create impressionistic landscapes because of her love for the natural spaces of this world. These paintings connect her with memories. Her series "What Denial Looks Like" and other works focus on climate change and the relationship of humans with the natural world and the consequences of denying climate change. It's a passion for her to keep this topic first and foremost as she tries to live sustainably on this planet.

A recent cancer journey led her to playful manipulations of paint, creating abstract works of color, light, and form. To add depth to her paintings, resin has been a wonderful medium to experiment with.
Having lived all over Canada and embarked on many travels, she's gained an awesome perspective for her art, as she continues to create and be a part of the artistic community.
