My paintings portray the “Grandeur of Nature”. I choose to paint derelict farm buildings, sunflowers having a bad hair day, a sunset struggling to illuminate a forest, or a surging brook rushing over partially submerged rocks. I find interest in those elements in nature that are less than perfect. This imagery is my means of connecting you to nature as it represents moments that in today’s hectic life people do not have time to appreciate.
Working with watercolour and mixed media in a representational manner, I use line and colour to create my paintings. Through exaggeration and colour manipulation, I go beyond the obvious when interpreting my subjects, in order to emphasize elements that I find most compelling.
I have taken many workshops from notable artists. My art has been displayed at juried shows including the prestigious Buckhorn Fine Art Festival. I contribute to my community by donating original works of art to local charitable organizations.
When I am in my studio, I frequently listen to classical music hoping its serenity and peacefulness will translate into my paintings. I welcome visitors to my studio and would be happy to discuss my vision with you in person. Although I did not start painting full time until my retirement, I feel “that it is never too late to start a creative journey”!
Thank you for taking this journey with me,
