Art Smart Workshop: Molten Wax Exploration, with Deborah Ann Morris

This upcoming workshop is great opportunity to learn encaustic painting without the overhead of buying materials. Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which coloured pigments are added. The liquid or paste is then applied to a surface—usually prepared wood, though canvas and other materials are often used. Deborah Ann Morris is teaching this workshop.

Home Routes Presents Meredith Axelrod!

Welcome to the monthly concert series!

Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous was incorporated as a not-for-profit arts organization in February of 2007 to create new performance opportunities for French and English speaking musicians and audiences in rural, remote and urban, communities across Canada, hosted by volunteers in their homes and other community venues.

Friday, September 28 we will host Meredith Axelrod. Delightfully engaging and unassumingly comic, Meredith envisions the limitless potential of early twentieth century music, whether it be Ragtime, Music Hall, Pop Standard, Boogie Woogie, Tin Pan Alley, String band, Jazz, Country, Blues or even Jug Band music, and embodies the spirit that brought the music into existence in the first place. Her vocal style is unusual, probably because she learned to sing by listening to how folks did it a century ago – through the medium of cylinders and 78-rpm records.

You can find out more about Meredith here.

And here you can check out the Home Routes website.

More info about the remaining concerts soon!

See you soon!
